Although some recycling efforts can be effective at diverting waste, it has long been known that Reducing and Reusing are among the most important environmentally-friendly actions an individual can make. Because of the media focus on recycling, many products available, which help individuals reduce resource consumption and reuse, have been hidden in the shadows. Some are available in Health Food Stores (even though they aren't necessarily health foods) and some are available in home building centres and hardware stores (though they may not even be hardware). There are very few stores around which bring these crucial products together in the spotlight, where they belong. The majority of products available from TREAD lightly are made in Canada (4 brands are made by WAHM's) using environmentally friendly materials. TREAD lightly's packaging materials are reused boxes which otherwise would be headed for the landfill/recycling facilities from large distribution companies; as well as shredded paper gathered from large companies' waste.
